New iNADO Report Highlights the Value of Athlete Representation within Anti-Doping Organizations
24/06/2025 - Bonn, Germany
The Institute of National Anti-Doping Organisations (iNADO) has published its latest report, Athlete Representation in Anti-Doping Organisations, offering valuable insights into how athlete voices are currently integrated within anti-doping structures and how this can be further strengthened.
Based on a 2024 global survey, the report recognises the growing commitment across Anti-Doping Organisations (ADOs) to include athlete perspectives in governance, education, and policy-making. It also highlights practical opportunities to build on this foundation through clear policies, better resourcing, and more consistent support for athletes and athlete representatives.
“This report reflects the shared commitment across the anti-doping community to elevate the athlete voice” said Amy Dyer, iNADO Program Manager and lead for the project. The openness of so many organizations to participate and engage in this project is encouraging. There is a growing recognition that athlete representation isn’t a ‘nice-to-have’—it’s essential to good governance. Together, we can strengthen athlete representation and build systems that are fair, inclusive, and trusted by those they serve. This report offers practical ways forward, and we invite every organization to take the next step toward embedding athlete voices at every level of decision-making.”
The report outlines practical recommendations for ADOs on the following central themes:
- Formalize athlete representation
- Secure organizational commitment
- Empower athlete representatives
- Enhance awareness and access to athlete services
The full report is available for download on the iNADO website. iNADO encourages all stakeholders to review the findings and work together to advance meaningful athlete representation at every level of anti-doping.
